We came to the factory for the Christmas Wreath making. It was fab. Plenty of resources to use. Tea and mince pie included.
Before that we had breakfast in the cafe, which we had pre booked. Lovely Emma Bridgwater crockery was used which was lovely to see.
It was a bit pricey but it was a nice breakfast.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
We then looked around the shop. It is expensive and i didn’t buy anything. But I had thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Car parking was free which was a bonus
Visited in September 2023 to have afternoon tea in the Cafe, couldn't book a factory tour or the decorating studio, as they were full all day, **note....book early if you want a factory tour!
There is a good sized gift shop and a factory shop where you can buy good quality seconds at generally about 10 to 20% cheaper than the gift shop.
We booked afternoon tea for 2pm, this cost £20 each and was delicious. The only choice you get is the drinks, the afternoon tea is a set menu served on a tiered cake stand with a huge pot of tea, all served in EB crockery of course.
Toilets are by the entrance and were very clean and the whole area is accessible, not sure about the tour though.
Car parking is free, on a gravel surface with plenty of spaces.
Went to the decorating studio for my wife’s birthday and had an amazing time. Staff are really helpful and explain what to do first, and they have so many sponges/stamps you can use to help with your designs as well as free painting. Plenty of choice for what you can choose to decorate, and very reasonable priced with free postage once your totems have been glazed and fired. Massive car park, and both the normal shop and the factory shop where you can pick up some absolute bargains. Highly recommend for a fun morning/afternoon.
My wife and I visited the pottery decorating centre at Emma Bridgewater today, we had a wonderful time. I'm not good at the creative arts but my Wife loved it. We also went into the main shop, the seconds shop and the restaurant (it's huge)
The carpark is easy to access with a simple walk to the entrance, of a few yards.
Yes the prices are not cheap but we are talking quality pieces so it's in our opinion well worth it.
Book online and enjoy a fantastic excursion to do something few get the chance to do.
Great way to design a unique gift for someone special. Best to book in advance . It cost us £64 for 2 bowls and two small mugs to be decorated. They provide the paints and stencils and cut out sponges to help you do your designs . Lots of fun and something slightly different to offer friends and family . It’s for all ages . It takes 3 weeks for you to get them back once they have been fired . Free delivery in uk . We really enjoyed ourselves. You have about 2 hours to design something . You can get hot and cold drinks . There are two factory shops one with the best Emma Bridgewater pottery in and a second factory shop with pottery to buy with a slight faults in the pottery. You can book to do a tour to get the whole experience. From when it arrives in clay to the factory . There is also a cafe which you can have food and drinks or afternoon tea. Again I would prebook . There isn’t big range of choice on the menu but the food was good and well presented. There is a big car park and a few toilets. Yes I would do this experience again .
Visited the decorating studio and shops today. Tried and failed to visit the cafe.
In the decorating studio we didn’t have the best experience. Officious member of staff telling me off for painting things wrongly (!). Someone using a guillotine to cut up leaflets which was making a horrible, loud and high pitched scraping sound, followed by the fire alarm going off! The toilets were disgusting with a dirty nappy. Generally just not very nice.
The shops are nice, but the cafe is impossible to get into without booking.
Generally feel like we were not very welcome and I’m not sure I’d go back. Disappointing.
We visited on Friday and had the most fabulous day out. I came with my mum, aunt and two cousins for a joint celebration for a 30th and a 70th birthday and honestly both birthday girls had just as much fun as each other. We booked the factory tour and breakfast - called the breakfast experience. The tour was with Julie who was just the best guide, it’s such an intimate tour and I learnt so much, fascinating. You speak to all the potters making the pottery, I had no idea how they used all the old techniques and it was something I’d never seen before. They take very small groups around so it really felt like we were proper guests - and everyone working there took the time to show us what they were doing. Next was breakfast and it was a lovely spread, two large pastries and a huge bowl of yoghurt, fruit, granola, and lovely coffees. We sat chatting for ages and it was really festive and friendly. Then we hit the factory shop - still had their Black Friday deals so we went a bit overboard there. That took us until 1pm when we had booked for the pottery painting. We all loved it, having seen how to decorate the pottery using sponges on the tour we were itching to give it a go ourselves. I was delighted with how mine turned out. Usually I’ve got my kids with me on these pottery painting things, and don’t get to do it myself. After that we headed back to the shop,.. haha! And finished around 3pm. Really great day out - recommend it. Plus it was surprisingly affordable - we paid just under £100 for all five of us (£20 each) which covered tour, breakfast and drinks, pottery painting reservation. So on the day I just paid for the pottery we painted and our shopping. They post the pottery you paint back to your home address too for no extra cost so you don’t need to pick it up. Highly recommend.
Dispute being unsure about what to design it all turned out very well. Came on a works day out and it was thoroughly enjoyed. Did the painting in the decorating studio. Quick intro on how it's works before you begin. Loads of sponges to choose from, brushes, pencils. 90 mins was plenty of time. 2-3 weeks for collection or can be posted. Plenty of car park spaces. Great gift shop. Unfortunately didn't have the afternoon tea as it was fully booked. Recommend booking early. Definitely a great way to spend a few hours.
